EMBROIDERY 101

A must for new embroidery machine owners, or those wanting to renew or perfect their skills. This is a workshop class to teach the basics of threads, stabilizers, needles, hooping, placement and stitching on a variety of fabrics. This is a fun but "workhorse" class. Machine owners that purchased here pay $25, others are $45.

SELF BINDING BLANKET

Mary M has had fun with these, and you will be amazed at the quick results by combining two fabrics in a special way and ending up with a blanket or “lovie” for a child.

This new program is coming with some of the newer models, and is available to anyone with embroidery and does so much. Learn to basics in this hands-on computer class

Jane and Jeannie love to bind--and they will share several techniques for finishing off those quilt edges or other project finishes in this workshop class. You will learn to cut and join strips, apply front and back as you stitch on sample squares, including “back to front” techniques and curves.

Designed as a carry bag for the little Featherweight machines, this one can serve many purposes. Formed on a frame with zipper closure and pockets to spare--it will hold a lot. Class with Beverly always teaches so much and she is great at being a “Bag Lady”!! Two time class

If you are ready for “more” on the Canvas program for the Scan ‘N Cut, or just to get started, come to this class

From Floriani--This is a new program designed for use with digital cutters and is stand-alone--but will interface with Floriani-- class meets with Libby

Each month offers suggestions for creativity-sometimes a demonstration on a machine or using an accessory or technique-and wonderful sharing ideas.

Review of the basics of this economical software with an emphasis on the additions that you can make. If you are “thinking” about adding a software program to your embroidery but don’t want a larger investment--take a look at this one. If you are new to this program you will be welcome in this class.

A beautiful design by Sweet Pea--stitch up a collection of blocks and stitch them into this great bag. Sharon will guide you through fabric choice, stabilizers and then into construction in this two part class

This “sweet” mug rug can be made personal with your name or message, but has embroidered piecing in the background with a very tasty cupcake on top!! Three sizes are available to work with most machines--a great introduction to “in the hoop”. Class with Jane

If you own this software you should be coming to these classes each month for great tips and techniques. Libby leads these classes, one in the evening and one during the day. Check the calendar for dates and times, please let us know and you will be on the email list.

These are so cute--Linda showed them at Dec Club and everyone loved them for personal use or for kids. Make them in fun vinyls (available as a kit) and decorate as you want to fill with the small containers.

You will construct a loose fitting jacket with a self-lined front using a McCalls pattern. This is an easy pattern with excellent instructions written by Nancy Zieman. Aine will include techniques for working with and sewing on knit fabrics. Two part class

Another back by demand--this design from Anita Goodesign is beautiful, different, fun and unique! There are many scene choices--and of course our sample has a horse on it!! The organza overlay makes these really beautiful. Deborah will lead this class that you will enjoy--come see the sample.

This is such a fun and creative technique, and in class you will stitch two styles—one a pretty Sunbonnet design on a napkin or towel. With the cutter machine popularity (like the Brother Scan 'N Cut) we have added lots of possibilities with this type of embroidery.

Janome has teamed up with “Sew4Home” to create special and unique projects for dealers, and this is our second in the series. All are welcome to make this machine apron which features pockets and lots of decorative stitch accents. It is so handy to have at home or to bring to class to hold all of your sewing goodies!! Two time class with Jeannie and Mary B begins April 26 @ 9:30, or long class on May 12 @ 9:30 ($25)

Make this beautiful block with Mary B as you learn the basics of paper (foundation) piecing--and find out how fun and perfect your results are. Start with this easy block and then “go for more”!!

Do your points all match??? Especially for those who need help with cutting, stitching and pressing for basic quilt block construction, in class you will work with rulers, cutters and your machine as you work through lots of basic skills. Workshop class with Jeannie and Jane

Stashbuster!! Pillowcases make great gifts--and a great project for leftover fabric. You will learn two ways to construct a pillowcase and learn to sew French seams. You are invited to make one pillowcase for donation to Cooks Children’s Hospital. Aine will demonstrate various embellishments and creative ideas for unique pillowcases. Just in time for Mother’s Day, class is May 3 @ 6:00 or May 11 @ 9:30 ($20)

This is a “hold everything” bag that is roomy , with lots of pockets and is just sew cute! The sample was pieced with strips, but you can do it in one fabric too. The wire frame makes it super sturdy and you will love it! Beverly will teach this two-part class

Premier Embroidery Club meets once a month to enhance your use of software with so many capabilities. The new Viking Premier Plus 2 Software will be used in this class, with limited support of Premier Plus continuing.

If you have a design that begins with quilted blocks, sashings and borders maybe, or would like to know how to begin one of these projects--this class will get you started. You will stitch two complete blocks and then trim and join them, so that you can move on to complete a full project. If you do not have a design, one will be available for a small fee for class.

Once a month this group gathers here for fellowship, education, sharing and more. The "show and tell" time is always inspiring, and the variety of skill and creativity wonderful to see.

“Row By Row --Sew Musical”--beginning in June--the annual “Row By Row” program offering kits, patterns, license plates and more for this year’s “Sew Musical” theme with all new sizes for the rows. We are working to get our row ready--and as always it will be available as an awesome pre-cut kit!! As usual--the competiton is on!! Come take a look. This program is active all across the country and if you have questions just check the “Row” website or Facebook page or ask any of us. Please join us and have fun with this year’s program!!

We go over all of the settings, adjustments and parts, and then cut several different media, and learn to scan for cutting. NOTE!! This class is a prerequisite for other Scan 'N Cut Classes!

In this class you will use your cutter to scan/read a cut file then prepare and cut fabric for your project. The project is not decided at this moment, but will be on Facebook soon!

It’s a perfect time for cards, and Teresa has some really pretty ones for you to make.

Libby has these planned--the May project will be doing a vinyl design on a pants leg and the June project will probably involve foil!

"What is this funny-looking thing?"—A basic introduction to serger application, threading, curves, corners, balanced overlocking and gathering. If you have not taken this class,or if you need a refresher, come join us.

Stitch up one of those comfortable, easy fit tops with a varied hemline from a soft fabric. Basic pattern use will be taught, plus basic sewing and pressing skills. Bring your serger if you have one and finish those seams beautifully!

Make a lovely pillow using fabric squares from your stash--let your creativity flow! Use seasonal fabrics, fabric to match room décor, or just some favorites that you adore. This looks so tricky--but it’s fun and easy! Class with Aine

The “Westalee” program has been great for many folks, and we have even more to offer now using the quilting rulers with the special ruler foot on your flatbed sewing machines, with free-motion stitching. The Westalee Basics class gets you started with the rulers as you learn to maneuver and manipulate your designs.
