EMBROIDERY 101

A must for new embroidery machine owners, or those wanting to renew or perfect their skills. This is a workshop class to teach the basics of threads, stabilizers, needles, hooping, placement and stitching on a variety of fabrics. This is a fun but "workhorse" class. Machine owners that purchased here pay $25, others are $50.

Stitch up a quick pre-cut placemat and complete the project with embroidery--design features multiple size and shapes of fun stitching. Class will emphasize placement and hooping for quilts! Two time class starts April 24 @ 9:30 or long class May 11 @ 1:00 ($25)

Review of the basics of this economical software with an emphasis on the additions that you can make. If you are "thinking" about adding a software program to your embroidery but don't want a larger investment--take a look at this one. Note--we are considering offering classes on some of the add-ons to Embrilliance if there is interest--(such as Enthusiast and Alpha Tricks)--let us know!

Jane and Jeannie love to bind--and they will share several techniques for finishing off those quilt edges or other project finishes in this workshop class. You will learn to cut and join strips, apply front and back as you stitch on sample squares, including "back to front" techniques and curves.

--"Tannenbaum"-A wonderful, dimensional project that will draw compliments on your Christmas table. The special treated batting that is in the sections draws up slightly with heat to give it a very unique texture--SO pretty. Two time class with Beverly starts June 18 @ 9:30 or June 25 @ 6:00 (part 2 is July 2nd) ($30)

Join us in making an applique Christmas Tri-Fold. It will become part of your permanent holiday collection. Pick your colors and stitches with Earleen on starting June 5 @ 9:30 or June 27 @ 6:00 ($30)

This fun technique continues to be so popular and there are lots of pattern styles available. It's a great way to "bust your stash" as you choose highlights for your collage projects. Start a new project or work on one you have in the works--class with Beverly

This is a computer class geared to helping you with your design files, transferring files, unzipping, downloading, writing to USB, saving and more. If you need help just managing your embroidery designs-this class will help you!

Try out your stitching onto popular cork fabric with these cute coasters. Use your Scan 'N Cut or let us cut yours, add monograms and create a special home accent--fun! Class with Linda May 30 @ 1:30 or June 29 @1:30 ($20)

This gathering is for anyone who loves to be around sewing, quilting, embroidery, machines, notions and "sew" much more. We gather the first Saturday of each month and the Friday before the first Saturday. Jeannie and Jane share new patterns and notions, fabrics and great new ideas and techniques. Sometimes there is a special challenge to participate in, and there are lots of door prizes! We do "show and tell" so that members can share their projects--it is wonderful and fun. Our main service project is to bring pillowcases for Cook's Children's Hospital, but we also donate to the Linus Project. We hope you will join us--everyone is welcome. We take a $5 per session donation to help with the handouts and door prizes--and everyone gets a fat quarter on their birthday month!

Brand New Here--Do you have a Singer Featherweight 221? Would you like to learn more about this perfect portable machine and how to keep it in good working condition? If the answer is yes, then you'll want to attend our first Featherweight function on Friday, May 10th at 6:00. Bring your machine and Doug will walk us through the basic maintenance techniques. You will learn how to care for your featherweight so it can sew up some fun projects as we plan regular meetings--mark your calendars and get signed up!! No charge for this first gathering!!

If you own this software you should be coming to these classes each month for great tips and techniques. Libby leads these classes, one in the evening and one during the day. Check the calendar for dates and times, please let us know and you will be on the email list.

These are so neat--you carry a little square zipper tote, get to your class or retreat, open the zipper and you have a neat tray to spread out your notions--or whatever. Great project to make lots--with Mary on May 18 @ 1:30 ($20)

In addition to our regular "Saturday Sampler" and Quilt Club Friendship BOM--we offer Kimberbell's "Make Yourself at Home" Quilt in Embroidery or Sewing Version--continuing classes will meet April 13 @ 9:30 and May 25 @ 1:30

It's brand new!! Creative lace designs with the unique look of Kimberbell--these can be stitched free-standing or directly onto fabric. They make great elements to add to the popular wooden slat look. Class April 27 @ 9:30 ($20)

Too cute to clutter--but a great catch-all for keys, a cute flower assortment or your sewing notions. Choose an owl or kitty design and stitch it up with Mary B on June 14 @ 1:30 or June 17 @ 6:00 ($20)

The Log Cabin Quilt Block is a staple in the quilting block choices, and it is so fun and easy to do-using one of several techniques designed for that block. Mary B will teach the "super easy" way using the Creative Grids Log Cabin Ruler--no "fussy" strip cutting and it turns out perfect! Class on April 30 @ 1:30 or June 6 @ 6:00 ($20)

A workshop style class with Beverly. These pattern books feature so many different blocks, and you can use and combine them in so many ways--it's up to you! The fabric choices are listed as "vintage style" but you can make it any colorway that you choose! Class begins May 25 @ 9:30 or June 5 @6:00

This design by Laura Heine makes a wonderful quilt, or lots of house styles for other decorative projects. Beverly will teach you how to use foundation piecing techniques, starting with the pattern prep and on to the perfect straight stitching--you get to follow a line! If you want to join in or continue your project, come to class April 20 @ 1:30 & May 4 @ 12:30 & June 22 @ 9:30

Premier Embroidery Club meets once a month to enhance your use of software with so many capabilities. The new Viking Premier Plus 2 Software will be used in this class, with limited support of Premier Plus continuing. If you have Embroidery or Embroidery Extra the teacher will need to know well before the class to ensure the lesson can be done on your level.

I know you have a pile of presser feet that you don't know what to do with--or maybe have seen a technique that uses a special foot that you don't have yet. This class will feature the "special" feet available for most machine models. We will have samples of the feet for you to try, and you will stitch up samples to take home. Class with Jeannie June 7 @ 9:30 or June 8 @ 9:30 ($20)

Add embroidered flowers to your fabric and stitch on "in the hoop" to create a very usable pincushion complete with front pocket--a great gift for a sewing friend or something special for your machine table. Class with Kay April 15 @ 1:30 or June 22 @ 1:30 ($20)

This class has been done here before--but folks have asked Maria to teach it again. Simple piecing and sewing create a one or two pocket vinyl pocket to hold your block of the month projects or just anything--several pattern styles will be shared at the two time class beginning May 6 @ 1:30 or June 10 @ 6:00 ($30)

We are going strong after our January start--but you can join us at any time! We do a monthly "Friendship Quilt" block (with some tutorials), plus exchange and mystery programs, and small challenges some months. Our plans will include many opportunities to learn and share as we go along. The "Show and Tell" projects are just wonderful--we have such talented folks--or you are welcome to just come and enjoy the fellowship. We support Safe Haven with monthly donations and also encourage Linus and Cook's fabric donations. We meet on a Thursday evening at 6:30 and Friday at 1:00--usually the third week of the month, but check the calendar for dates!! Everyone welcome!!

(embroidery optional)--Come join us as we learn to create the new "go to" present for your favorite person-a special pillow with a pocket. You will learn how to put it all together and be prepared to make more! Class with Earleen starts May 11 @ 9:30 or May 13 @ 9:30 ($25)

It's hanging in the classroom stitched in red, but also looks great in other colors. Designs can also be used for towels or garment embroidery--they are so cute. Construction of the quilt will be taught. Class with Deborah starts May 7 @ 6:00 or May 10 @ 1:30 ($30)

Create a carrier for those Westalee rulers, or for your sewing supplies... or just whatever! Beverly designed this project with lots of storage compartments inside and closed up with a full zipper. Two time classes begin April 16 @ 9:30 or May 2 @ 6:00

Using a raw-edge plus quilting design by DIME, learn to layer and stitch the quilted blocks, plus join them with a special technique. Take a look at the fish quilting in the borders! Other designs are available using this technique. Class June 3 @ 6:00 or June 12 @ 1:30 ($20)

We go over all of the settings, adjustments and parts, and then cut several different media, and learn to scan for cutting. NOTE!! This class is a prerequisite for other Scan 'N Cut Classes!

Teresa creates some very unique projects for these classes, and you get to try some of the other "crafty toys" in her sessions. These dimensional cards are so cute--join her on May 17 @ 1:30 or 6:00 ($20)

A girl can never have too many purses and what better way to match an outfit than to make your own! Designer inspired clutches come in a variety of designs complete with lining, zipper top and optional handle--the secret is the texture created with Texture Magic! Fun to stitch--class with Deborah June 13 @ 1:30 or 6:00 ($20)

The strip rug craze continues with this newest pattern in the series of a half-circle--perfect for against a wall or door. The strip square uses cut squares from your stitched strips--sew cute. Start with strips and a cut batting and stitch up this easy project with Beverly starting May 16 @ 6:00 or June 4 @ 1:30 ($30)

Sew up a unique top with Deborah in this sewing class. You will learn about pattern use, basic sizing, plus several construction techniques. Two time class starts June 24th @1:30 or 6:00 ($30)

Fashion is full of jeans, and you should wear your sewing adventure--your design--your jeans. This class will have you ripping out seams, bleaching some places and adding embellishments--embroidery and more with special touches. Have some fun and create your designer look! Two time class begins June 7 @ 6:00. ($30)

New design for spring, Mary put together flower designs for a mug rug, or stitch more into a runner. Machine embroidered applique techniques create a beautiful project. Class June 15 @ 9:30 ($20)

Beautiful stitches and threads make this unique project special--complete with "in the hoop" zipper to hold those favorite scissors in place. Class with Susan April 13 @ 1:30 or April 29 @ 6:00 ($20)

It has a zipper, inner mesh pockets, a nice handle and it's pretty! Use this medium size bag as a purse, notions carrier or just about anything! Maria will teach this two time class beginning May 16 @9:30 or June 8 @ 1:30 ($30)

A new project introduced at market--you will create a twister fabric panel (fun!) and the using a "magic" filler--fuse and shape you fabrics into a very usable and unique tray--give it a try. Two time class with Beverly starts May 6 @6:00 or May 8 @ 9:30 ($30)

Class will use all of the rulers in the sampler set as you learn and practice Clamshells, spiral and rotating designs, arcs and more. You will also learn how helpful the crosshair square rulers are for your projects.
